The Revelation of Jesus Christ

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants- things which must shortly take place…the time is near.” Jesus has  the apostle John reassure the readers of this book that our  Savior controls the course and climax of history.  Who can deny that we are on the verge of  tribulation.  There is a blessing promised to the person who reads and keeps (obeys) the things that are written in The Revelation.  I’m sure there will be a blessing for teaching its truths to your kids….always praying for wisdom and taking into consideration the age of your pupils. (Many adults are fearful of these end-time events. Jesus tells us in the gospels not to be fearful and in the Revelation He exhorts His followers to be overcomers)

  1. John writes this vision  in a letter  to send to 7 different churches. (find on map)
  2. Jesus appears to John in all His glory causing John to faint.
  3. After receiving the 7 different messages from Jesus to the churches, John goes up to heaven and appears before the  Holy throne of God.
  4. Praise is given to the Lamb who alone is worthy to open the sealed scroll.
  5. The first 4 of 7 seals are broken releasing the four horsemen.  The 5th seal reveals the martyred souls under the alter in heaven which is why I no longer consider these seals as judgements!  They are told to be patient as more will be added to their number, and given white robes. After the 6th seal is broken, there are signs in the heavens and a great earthquake.  Men look for a hiding place after realizing that the wrath of the Lamb is about to be poured out.
  6. The 7th seal is opened and there is silence in heaven for  1/2 and hour before the 7 trumpet judgments sound, which starts the 42 months of “Jacob’s Trouble” (great woes poured out on those who have not repented , also known as the “Great Tribulation”.
  7. The last plagues are poured out  of  the 7 bowls “of God’s wrath”, ending with Christ’s return to the earth to save the remnant of Israel from the hordes of the antichrist at Armageddon… “in righteousness He judges and makes war”( Rev. 19:11)  Zechariah 12:9-10 is fulfilled.  He comes  with all the saints and angels.  Zechariah 14:5, Colossians 3:4, Jude :14-15, 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18
  8. 1000 year reign of Jesus on the earth, Satan is bound in the bottomless pit  during this time.                                                                                                                                   “Now when 1000 years have ended Satan will be released from his prison and will                                                                                                                         go out to deceive the nations…will gather them to battle…the saints and the beloved                                                                                                                       city (Jerusalem). And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. The devil…                                                                                                                            is cast into the lake of fire….”
  9. The great white throne judgement, where the dead small and great stand before God and the books were opened.                                                                                             “And  anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast in the lake of fire.”
  10. John sees a new heaven and a new earth.
  11. God gives promises to the overcomer, and Jesus promises His words are faithful and true.
  12. Warning given to any who would “take away from the words of this book”.
  13. We are reminded 3 times…” Behold, I come quickly…”                 This chart is not a time-line…it just reminds me of the events listed in Revelation chapters 5-18 …it is folded and kept in my Bible.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              “For God so loved the world He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have everlasting life…And he who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:16 & 36                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and the cares of this life,  and that Day come on you unexpectedly.  For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.  Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”    Luke 21:34-36                                                ( For instructions on the “stained glass” cross see the very first blog…I also used parchment card stock and sticker letters which are optional.)
