In Genesis 11, we read that the inhabitants of the world spoke one language. Wicked Nimrod wanted to gather the people together in a one-world kingdom/religion and started building a ziggurat to incorporate his unifying ideas. To confound their evil imaginations, the LORD scattered the people through the use of many languages. The people had to stop building their tower and group together according to who they understood. For the handwork portion of your class, the kids can construct a tower (see the post on August 10, 2011)… but for an alternate project you will have to do some further research on the internet. Do a search on “John 3:16 in other languages”, look inside a Gideon Bible or translate this blog using “google translate” or “free-website-translation.com”. *John 3:16* is the most translated verse in the world…the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only thing that can truly unite us. Have the kids organize and design a “John 3:16 tract” using a different language. It should be one that they are not familiar with. If you want to be able to use these to pass out to people, try using a language that is spoken by people in your area.
