First Passover

This is a fundamental lesson so make sure you read Exodus 7-10 very carefully.  Jesus is our Passover Lamb and several important concepts are being illustrated with the initiation of Passover.  Lot’s of prep work because of the cutting but it is worth it.

template showing folding and cutting lines

Half of the worksheet shows the pattern where you will fold the paper and the line that you will use to cut with your x-acto or small, sharp scissors.  If using an x-acto make sure it is a fresh blade because you are cutting 2 layers since the paper is folded in half. ( Did you fold  your half piece of card stock lengthwise on the  middle dotted line?)  Cut only the highlighted line.  Try making a template and trace the design on a 1/2 piece of folded card stock.   The green crescent shape gets completely cut out.  When you open the page there will be 3 complete crosses.  The worksheet below shows the words for younger kids.  Have the kids write up the side of the page with a red pen, “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” Hebrews 9:22.  Use the same pen to mark your door as shown in the sample, which you will need to draw or cut out and glue to fit between the middle and side folds . The door shown is 2 3/4 inches tall.  The lamb should measure 3/4 inch tall and 3/4 inch wide and you can glue it under the Ex. 12 passage..(if you copy the lamb from the worksheet, make sure you shrink it to fit in the space or you can use a sticker)  The side folds go the opposite direction as shown in sample.  The last thing I do is write “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29,  across the top of the page.  You can e-mail me with any questions. ..between steps 1 and 2, try and erase as much pencil as you can…careful or you will need the magic tape!

worksheet – verses

My class is upper elementary so they get a plain paper that has been cut and folded, one door and one lamb as shown above.  Also…if using scissors you will want to start cutting by the top of the larger cross.

God’s Wonders

God's wonders

These are the first nine plagues that God used to show HIS  mighty right  arm in Exodus 6-11.   I sit the kids at a table for this lesson.  Teach one plague and then reinforce the info with working on the appropriate square. Everything you need is on the worksheet  except the hail. Use hole- punched hail or draw your own.   You will also need scissors, glue and something to color with. The red strips are the froggie’s tongues. You will need to color the backs of the tongues red and then curl them  before gluing.  Write  or glue Exodus 8: 1  in the space under the darkness.
