King David

David the King

Almost 60 chapters in the Bible are devoted to the life of David….warts and all. ( 1 Samuel 16-31, 2 Samuel 1-24 , and 1 Chronicles 10-29)  Whichever events you weave into your Bible lesson, I hope you include the facts from the worksheet which highlight David as a beloved man of God; chosen from the sheepfolds of Bethlehem to be ruler of God’s nation, and from whose loins the future Messiah would be born.  A man of passionate worship and author of many psalms who organized the temple choirs to sing and play before the LORD 24/7, as well as donate  and prepare with all his might, great treasure for the future temple.  He sought the Lord’s will and was quick to repent and ask for cleansing from his iniquities. Finally,  this son of Jesse was a brave warrior who inspired the deep friendship of Prince Jonathan, who recognized his role of encouraging David and did not grasp at the succession to the throne.
